Evangelische Theologie

Biblical Theology pursues two objectives that require a broad range of methods. On the one hand, it examines the origins and interpretation of the texts of the Biblia Hebraica, the Septuagint, the Novum Testamentum Graece, and the Vulgate, both within their ancient contexts (literary history) and within broader cultural history (history of reception). On the other hand, it explores the religious history of the southern Levant (Israel/Palestine/Jordan). To this end, it draws not only on the textual sources of this region but also on the findings of biblical archaeology and the iconography of the southern Levant, focusing on the reconstruction of religious concepts from the Middle Bronze Age through the 2nd century CE.

The study of Protestant Theology offers you the opportunity to explore and apply the full range of the discipline’s methodologies. To this end, in addition to introductory and advanced courses in specific areas of Old Testament studies, we offer you the opportunity to engage in independent scholarly research.
